KDF85 is the most advanced media that one can use when it comes to filtering their water along with pre-treating water before Reverse Osmosis filters.  KDF85 filters now use medical grade catalytic granular activated carbon. This ultra premium grade of carbon reduces chloramines to the lowest industry standard levels available for any carbon media.  The carbon is steam activated to provide a strong, dense product with an extremely high surface area. It has a high degree of catalytic redox activity which enhances chloramine removal. It is superior to ordinary grades of activated carbon for chloramine removal and is specially acid washed, pH buffered, and rinsed with sanitized water. This special processing minimizes the possibility of metal contaminants appearing in the effluent and ensures a neutral pH effluent.
